Privacy Policy

Updated October 28, 2026

This policy explains what BookkeepDIY ("we" or "us") collects when you use bookkeepdiy.com, why, and what you can do about it. You can read the whole site without an account, and we collect as little as we can. We do not sell or rent personal information.

What we collect

When you browse. We count visits with Plausible Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not store your IP address. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, page requested) for security and troubleshooting.

When you upvote a tool. We store a one-way, salted hash of your IP address with the tool and the week, so each person gets one vote per tool per week. We never store the raw IP address with a vote. Your browser also keeps a cookie that remembers the vote; see the Cookie Policy.

When you submit a tool. We collect the tool details you enter and your email address. Your name, your relationship to the tool, and a note are optional.

When you buy a listing. Stripe handles payment on its own checkout page. We never see or store your card number. Stripe sends us the plan, the amount, and the email used at checkout.

When you email us. We keep your message and address so we can reply.

How we use it

We use this information to run the site, count upvotes fairly, review and publish listings, email you about your submission or payment, answer your questions, and keep the site secure. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers that run parts of the site for us, and only what each one needs: our hosting and database providers, Plausible for analytics, Stripe for payments, and Resend for transactional email. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Upvote records hold only the hashed IP and stay as part of a tool's vote count. Submission contact details stay with the listing until you ask us to remove them. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Emails are kept as long as we need them to help you.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK, or California), you may have further rights, such as objecting to how we use your data or filing a complaint with your local data protection authority. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.

Other sites

The blog at /blog runs on a separate platform and may handle data under its own terms. Tool listings link to vendor sites, and some images (logos, footer badges) load from other domains. Those sites have their own privacy policies.

Children

BookkeepDIY is written for business owners and is not meant for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
