Our take

Best for
Australian accounting and bookkeeping firms that onboard clients into Xero Practice Manager and want ID, the engagement letter, and AML notes in one request.
Not ideal if
A US shop or firm. Seamlss is built around the ATO, AUSTRAC, and Xero Practice Manager, and it does not keep a general ledger.
Standout
One client link that collects details, identity, documents, and the signed engagement letter, then waits for the firm to confirm before it updates Xero Practice Manager.

About Seamlss

Seamlss is client onboarding software for accounting and bookkeeping firms in Australia. You send one link. The client enters details, uploads documents, verifies identity, and e-signs the engagement letter. Your team reviews it, and nothing is written to Xero Practice Manager until you confirm. The same request can carry ATO client-to-agent linking steps, an ethical clearance to the prior accountant, and a yearly re-engagement. AML and CTF tools (designated services, a risk assessment, and PEP, sanctions, and adverse-media checks) are on paid plans, not the 14-day trial.

This is not QuickBooks Online, and it is not the Xero ledger. Xero Practice Manager is the practice file it syncs with. Kick, Digits, and Puzzle keep a company's books. Bench and Pilot are bookkeeping services. Seamlss does not post journals, send invoices, run payroll, or produce US 1099s. A US firm will not get an IRS workflow out of it.

Firms stick when new clients still arrive as PDFs, ID photos, and a signature in a different app, and someone retypes the lot into Xero Practice Manager. One request holds the form, the ID check, the letter, and the reminders. Staff still confirm the record before it updates. Documents can file into FYI, SuiteFiles, SharePoint, Dropbox, or Google Drive.

Pricing

Essential is $600 AUD a year including GST ($50 a month on annual billing, two months free) or $60 a month. Every plan has the same features. You pay more for more requests and SMS. A request is one ask to one client, and reminders count. If you go over, Seamlss moves you to the fitting plan from the next billing period; work does not stop mid-month. ID checks are extra: the pricing page lists document verification at $5.50, and the homepage says $5 plus GST. A 14-day trial needs no card, but AML tools are excluded from it. Prices are Australian dollars.

Month-end close is not in Seamlss. The job ends when the client record, letter, and documents are confirmed and the practice file is updated.

A US CPA does not get a ledger or a 1099 package. An Australian firm gets confirmed client details in Xero Practice Manager and files in the document system it already uses.

Features

One link for details, ID, and the letter
The client signs in, enters entity details, uploads documents, and e-signs the engagement letter inside the same request. There is no per-signature fee, and one request can carry more than one letter. Identity is a document and selfie check through Stripe Identity, or source documents. Seamlss deletes its copy of the ID images after 14 days and keeps a log. Stripe keeps its own copy under Stripe's policy.
Confirm before Xero Practice Manager changes
Client details push and pull with Xero Practice Manager on every plan. Seamlss fetches missing fields and proposes an update when the two sides disagree, rather than overwriting. Jobs can be deployed to XPM, including leads you are still onboarding. If you do not use Xero Practice Manager, Seamlss still runs in the browser on its own.
AML checks, billed only when they finish
Paid plans include the risk assessment, risk dashboard, designated-services setup from the AUSTRAC profile, and a staff training register. The checks themselves are extra and invoiced at month end when a check completes. On the pricing page: ID and PEP/sanctions are $5.50, background checks (Australian contacts) are $2.20, adverse media is $7.70, and ongoing monitoring is $5.50 per contact per year. The homepage lists ID checks as $5 plus GST. AML tools are not in the 14-day trial. Ethical clearances are.
File documents where the firm already files
Request documents save to SuiteFiles, FYI, or SharePoint, or to Dropbox and Google Drive. LodgeiT gets a CSV export. Zapier can start a request from a calendar or lead tool. Users and client records are unlimited on every plan. The cap is client requests and SMS credits, not seats.
ATO linking, clearances, and yearly letters
Each client can get ATO client-to-agent linking steps built from your firm's tax or BAS agent details. Ethical clearance requests go to the previous accountant from Seamlss. Once a year you can send existing clients, including a list imported from Xero Practice Manager, a bulk request to confirm details and sign the new letter.
