Our take
- Best for
- A firm, including a US firm on QuickBooks Online, that wants jobs, a portal, and a read of client reports without buying a second ledger.
- Not ideal if
- A US tax firm that needs organizers, Form 8879 identity checks, and Drake or UltraTax print-to-file inside the practice system.
- Standout
- Client records can show live QuickBooks Online, Xero, or FreeAgent figures next to the job, and client portal users are not billed as seats.
About Senta
Senta is practice management for an accountancy or bookkeeping firm. Each client has one record for contacts, jobs, email, and files. You turn on a workflow, and jobs can start from dates stored on that client. The client uses a portal to send documents, complete tasks, and e-sign. Connect QuickBooks Online and the client page can show that file's profit and loss, balance sheet, and trial balance, plus what they owe the firm on the sales ledger. Xero can sync the main contact and show the sales ledger. FreeAgent can show profit and loss and the balance sheet. None of that replaces the ledger or codes the bank feed.
Double sits on the client's QuickBooks Online or Xero file and is built to code and close it. Senta shows a snapshot of those books and runs the firm's jobs around them. TaxDome and Canopy are the US practice systems in this directory, with tax-season intake and firm billing in the product. Botkeeper categorizes the client's bank feed. Senta does not. The product is built around UK dates as well as the ledgers: Companies House filing dates can start a job, and a signed GoProposal can turn a prospect into a client.
Firms stay when the work is date-driven and they want one CRM instead of a spreadsheet plus email. The job list, the document portal, and the e-sign sit on the client record, and client logins are included rather than sold as extra seats. Staff work from the next task, not from memory of who was chased last week.
Pricing
The pricing calculator script prices a US first user at $29 per month in arrears. Extra seats step down: seats 2 to 4 at $27, seats 5 to 9 at $25, then $23, $21, $19, $17, $15, and $13 from 500 seats. Annual billing is 20% off, so one user is $278.40 for the year ($23.20 a month). Five US users are $135 per month before that discount. GBP and EUR use the same digits, and UK invoices add VAT. The homepage also shows 32 pounds, and a static line says 25.60 pounds for the first annual user. Those lines do not match the script. No trial was found. Client users are free.
Monthly, first user
US price from the calculator script loaded by the pricing page. GBP and EUR use the same digits. UK prices add VAT. Client portal users are not charged. No long contract is stated on the pricing page.
- Seat 1 is $29. Seats 2 to 4 are $27 each. Seats 5 to 9 are $25 each
- Lower bands continue: $23 from seat 10, down to $13 from seat 500
- Workflows, CRM, portal, e-sign, and support included
- No per-module fee and no record limit stated
Annual, first user
The script takes 20% off the monthly total when you pay annually. For one US user that is $278.40 for the year, or $23.20 a month. You choose the seat count up front and can add users during the year.
- 20% off the summed monthly seat prices
- Same step-down bands as monthly billing
- Client access stays free
- GBP annual equivalent on the script is 23.20 pounds a month before VAT

Month-end still happens in QuickBooks Online, Xero, or FreeAgent. Senta can show the profit and loss, the balance sheet, and what the client owes the firm, and it can run the checklist job around that work. It does not describe pushing categories or journal entries back to the ledger.
You can hand over the portal, signed documents, and the job history. UK filing dates can live on the client via Companies House. A US organizer, transcript pull, or tax-software binder was not described.
Features
- Jobs that start from client dates
- Put the dates that matter on the client record, then let a workflow create the job. UK firms can pull Companies House filing dates and directors onto the record and use those dates to start accounts or confirmation work. The pricing page says jobs, workflows, and emails come preloaded.
- One client record for email and files
- The CRM holds contacts, notes, and the email trail on the client. A document portal and e-sign are included, and the pricing page says client access is free. There is no per-module fee and no record cap on the pricing page.
- Read the client's books, do not replace them
- Turn on QuickBooks Online and link each client. The practice connection shows what that customer owes you. The client connection shows a profit and loss and balance sheet from their QuickBooks Online file. The help article says you enable the practice connection before the client connection. QuickBooks Desktop is not described.
- Xero contacts and FreeAgent reports
- The Xero practice connection can import contacts, link them to existing clients, and push main-contact changes both ways. Each linked client gets a sales-ledger tab. FreeAgent shows profit and loss, balance sheet, and bank accounts on a tab, matched by the client's FreeAgent subdomain. Dext Precision can show a bookkeeping health score on the record.
- Proposal accepted, services switched on
- GoProposal links proposal items to services in Senta so the client is entered once. Practice Ignition is connected through Zapier: when a proposal is accepted, Senta can convert the prospect to a client and turn services on. Zapier is the path for other apps that are not native.

Pick something else instead of Senta
Double
When to pick Double instead: you need staff to categorize and close inside the client's QuickBooks Online or Xero file, not only read a profit and loss on the client record.
TaxDome
When to pick TaxDome instead: the firm is a US tax practice and wants pipeline, a client app, and firm billing on a published per-seat plan.
Canopy
When to pick Canopy instead: IRS notices, transcripts, and tax-season intake matter more than UK Companies House dates.
