Our take
- Best for
- US tax firms that want one flow from the client link to a populated UltraTax, Lacerte, Drake, or CCH Axcess return, with a cited binder.
- Not ideal if
- A firm that wants a published per-return price, a QuickBooks close, or ProConnect data entry today. ProConnect is marked coming soon, and no price list was on the site.
- Standout
- Extracted W-2, 1099, and K-1 fields post into the tax software, with the leadsheet still tied to the source page.
About Soraban
Soraban is tax-season workflow for an accounting firm. Collect sends one link, reminds the client about missing W-2s, 1099s, and K-1s, and files what arrives. Prepare builds the binder and a leadsheet with each number tied to the source page, and it can draft a return from the prior year plus those documents. Connect posts extracted fields into UltraTax, Lacerte, Drake, or CCH Axcess. ProConnect is marked coming soon. Deliver sends the package, collects an IRS 8879 e-signature, and tracks signature and payment. The client does not install an app. Staff still review and sign off.
It does not replace the tax software. QuickBooks and Xero are not part of the documented stack. StanfordTax also builds the organizer and the binder, then delivers the return. Truss adds a Windows desktop app, a phone scanner, and optional domestic AI prep that lands back in the tax software. TaxDome is the wider practice system if the firm wants one place for tasks, the portal, and billing. Soraban's integrations page also names Karbon, SharePoint, RightWorks, and Zapier.
Firms stick when the same PDF was downloaded, renamed, keyed, and chased in separate tools. The about page describes one path: collect, organize, push into the tax software, package the 8879, and follow up. Preparers open a populated return and a cited workpaper instead of a blank input screen. You still own the judgment calls and the e-file in the tax software.
Pricing
No pricing page was found on soraban.com on 2026-10-12. The marketing pages say you can start with all four products or just one, with onboarding measured in weeks, and that you are not committed until you are live. They do not list a per-return rate, a minimum, or a seat fee. Third-party pages and Soraban blog posts that mention credit packs or an onboarding range were not used, because those figures were not on a pricing page we opened. Budget a conversation with the vendor, and do not plan the season from a number you found somewhere else.

Soraban does not close monthly books. Source documents for the return are collected and keyed. The general ledger, if the client has one, stays wherever it already lives.
The handoff is a populated return in UltraTax, Lacerte, Drake, or CCH Axcess, plus a binder with citations and an 8879 signature. You still review and e-file in that tax software. There is no QuickBooks package documented.
Features
- One link for source documents
- Collect sends a guided request. The client uploads from a phone or a desktop browser without installing an app or resetting last year's password. Reminders go out for what is still missing. Incoming W-2s, 1099s, and K-1s are sorted and named. The about page says a client can be onboarded from one link.
- Binder and a cited leadsheet
- Prepare builds the binder in the firm's folder structure when the upload finishes. Each leadsheet value is linked to the source page. A draft return can be built from the prior-year return and the new documents, with notes tied back to the source. A workspace assistant answers questions from that client's documents. Preparers correct and sign off. They do not start from a pile of unnamed PDFs.
- Fields pushed into the tax software
- Connect maps extracted values to form lines and posts them into UltraTax, Lacerte, Drake, or CCH Axcess. The connect page says this is not a CSV the staff retypes. ProConnect is labeled soon, not live. Ambiguous fields are flagged for review. Staff still approve what landed.
- 8879, status, and follow-up
- Deliver assembles the return package and collects an IRS 8879 signature in the same client flow. The homepage says signature collection meets NIST IAL2 identity checks. Status covers sent, opened, signed, and paid. Follow-up runs when the client stalls. A payment step is described. The processor is not named.
- Leave Karbon and SharePoint in place
- The integrations page lists Karbon for practice management, SharePoint for documents, RightWorks for hosting, and Zapier or an API for anything else. You do not have to move the firm's task system to use intake and data entry. Custom partner requests get a reply-time claim of two business days.

Audience
Pick something else instead of Soraban
TaxDome
Pick TaxDome instead if you want tasks, billing, and the client portal in one practice system, and your preparers will keep keying the return.
DataSnipper
Pick DataSnipper instead if reviewers live in Excel and need source-PDF evidence on an audit binder, not a populated 1040.
Double
Pick Double instead if the bottleneck is the monthly QuickBooks Online or Xero close, not tax-season data entry.
