Our take
- Best for
- A firm already moving onto Rightworks hosting that wants an accounting assistant inside that workspace instead of a public chatbot.
- Not ideal if
- A firm shopping for practice management, a client portal, or software that codes the bank feed and posts to QuickBooks or Xero.
- Standout
- The assistant is included on specific Rightworks plans and is described as keeping prompts and uploads inside Rightworks, not in a public chat tool.
About Spark AI
Spark AI is Rightworks' assistant inside OneSpace, the hosted workspace where a firm already opens its apps. It is not a public chatbot and it is not a job system. You type a question or drop in an export. The product page says you can ask for explanations of GAAP, GASB, ASC, and IRS rules, draft a client email, a memo, or a proposal outline, and compare figures from files you upload. Prompts, documents, and chats are described as staying inside Rightworks and not being shared with unauthorized third parties. New firms do not get the older standalone Spark Labs app. That login remains only for accounts that already had it.
Kick replaces the ledger. Double and Botkeeper work the client's QuickBooks Online or Xero file and leave a person to review what posts. TaxDome and Canopy run jobs, documents, and billing. Spark does none of that. It drafts, explains, and reads exports you give it. The product page says it connects with everyday tools such as QuickBooks and Xero. It does not say whether that is QuickBooks Online or Desktop, or whether the link is a live sync or an upload.
Firms that keep it are already on Rightworks hosting and want the assistant in that locked environment instead of pasting client work into a public chat tool. The output is a draft, a comparison, or an explanation. A person still has to check it before it reaches a client or a return.
Pricing
Spark has no price of its own. The product page says it is included with a Rightworks cloud subscription (call 888.417.4448). On the business comparison it is included on Cloud for QuickBooks Online (starts at $30 per user per month, one month free), Cloud Hosting ($85, one month free), and Cloud Hosting Pro ($110). It is not included on QuickBooks Hosting (starts at $55). The accounting-firm page lists Cloud Protect from $45 and Cloud Hosting from $85, and Cloud Premier has no price. That page does not check Spark by name, so do not assume the $45 plan includes it.

Month-end still happens in the ledger. Spark can draft a note or read an export you upload. It does not describe a reconciliation, a journal entry, or a close checklist.
You can paste a draft email or a comparison into the workpapers you already keep. Spark does not produce a portal package, a signed organizer, or a tax binder. The product page says you can research IRS rules and respond to a tax notice. It does not file the notice response for you.
Features
- Ask a standards or IRS question in OneSpace
- Type a question in Spark AI inside Rightworks OneSpace. The product page says you get explanations of GAAP, GASB, ASC, and IRS rules. It also says you do not need a technical setup: you type or pick a starter prompt. Treat the answer as a draft a reviewer still checks.
- Draft the client email or the memo
- Use it for a first draft of a client email, a meeting summary, a proposal outline, or a memo. The product page also lists responding to tax notices and researching a topic. You still send the message yourself.
- Upload an export and compare it
- Upload exported data from the apps you already use. The page says you can look for trends and put figures side by side. It does not describe posting a journal entry or coding a bank line.
- Keep the prompt inside Rightworks
- The product FAQ says prompts, documents, and conversations are not shared with unauthorized third parties, and that messages and file uploads stay in Rightworks systems. This is the reason to use it instead of a public chatbot. The page does not name the model vendor.
- Use the current app, not Spark Labs
- Spark AI for new firms is the OneSpace version. Spark Labs, the older standalone login, is closed to new subscriptions and extra users. Existing Spark Labs customers can still sign in. Questions go to [email protected].

Pick something else instead of Spark AI
Double
When to pick Double instead: you need a close workspace on the client's QuickBooks Online or Xero file, not a draft of an email about that file.
Botkeeper
When to pick Botkeeper instead: you want categorization and reconciliation help on QuickBooks Online or Xero, with a published per-entity license.
Canopy
When to pick Canopy instead: you need CRM, organizers, e-sign, and billing, which Spark does not do.
