Bank Rec
Import bank and ledger files on Windows, match the lines, and print a two-sided rec report.
Best for
Controllers still reconciling high-volume accounts in Excel who will install Windows software and import two files each period.
Not ideal if
DIY owners who want a browser ledger with a live bank feed. Bank Rec does not replace QuickBooks Online or Xero, and the cheapest published seat is $99.95 a month.
Standout
A dedicated two-file matcher (bank vs GL) that keeps the rec on your SQL box and tells you why a line is still unmatched.
About Bank Rec
Bank Rec (Bank Rec™ from Treasury Software) is Windows software you install on a PC. You export one period of bank activity and one period of general-ledger activity (Excel, CSV, BAI, or a QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online import), map the columns once, and run Automated Transaction Matching. Unmatched lines stay open and roll into the next period. On Corporate and Advanced you run a two-sided reconciliation report. It is not a ledger. You still close in QuickBooks, Xero, or whatever file you already keep. The rec data sits on your machine or SQL Server.
That is the opposite of Kick (the books live in Kick) and of Double (a close layer that writes back to QuickBooks Online or Xero). QuickBooks Online and Xero already reconcile bank feeds inside the ledger. Bank Rec is for shops whose rec still lives in Excel or a legacy process and who want a dedicated matching engine next to the file, not a new set of books.
People who stick are usually controllers or staff accountants who will install an InstallShield package, import two files every period, and work an exception list. Phone support is included on subscription licenses. This is not a browser app you sign into like Kick.
What people who used it say
What they tend to like
Auto-match turns the job into exceptions
One owner who used it at several companies said daily file loads auto-match routine items (checks) and the rec becomes an afterthought.
Rec data stays on your server
Vendor pricing copy: password protection, audit trail, data behind your firewall, not on a third-party host.
What they hesitate about
You still load the files
Same owner: basic use requires the end user to load bank detail and GL detail (daily, in their shop).
Independent Bank Rec talk is thin
Reviews.io volume for Treasury Software is mostly ACH Universal. Do not treat those stars as a Bank Rec rating.

You export bank and GL activity into Bank Rec, match, and (Corporate/Advanced) print the rec. Close still happens in the accounting file.
Export the rec report or exceptions to Excel or PDF. There is no year-end tax package from Bank Rec.

Features
Import bank and GL files
Export the period from the bank and from the accounting file. Map date, amount, description, and check number once. Excel, CSV, BAI, QuickBooks Desktop, and QuickBooks Online are named import paths.
Automated Transaction Matching
Run one-to-one and many-to-many matching on Standard. Corporate and Advanced add user-defined rules and categories. Advanced can include site numbers. You rematch, unmatch, and apply tolerances.
Exception reports that say why
Unmatched-records reporting is meant to show why a line is still open, so you research leftovers instead of the whole file. Matched lines get an audit trail number. Export exceptions to Excel.
Reconciliation report (Corporate and Advanced)
Corporate and Advanced print a two-sided, period-sensitive rec report and run the Stay-in-Balance wizard. Close and lock a period. Export to Excel or PDF. Standard matches; it does not get this report on the published chart.
On-prem Windows and SQL
InstallShield install. Single-user, Workgroup (bundled SQL Express), or Enterprise (your SQL Server). Extra workstations share one database. Data stays at your location. Enterprise-only: RDP/Citrix, segregation of duties, automation, SQL Insertion.
Full trial and phone support
30-day full-version trial, no credit card. Subscription licenses include phone support. Enter license codes later without reinstalling. Extra workstations and extra accounts are add-ons.
Pricing
A one-user shop on Standard Single User pays $99.95/mo or $1,190.40/year. Corporate Single User is $149.95/mo if you need the rec report and custom rules. Workgroup starts at $199.95/mo. Extra workstations are $11.80/mo; extra accounts $5.95/mo. Perpetual licenses are published and then need annual support. 30-day full trial, no card. No per-transaction fees.
Standard Single User
One Windows user who will import files and run standard matching. 30-day trial.

Audience
Pick something else instead of Bank Rec
Kick
Pick Kick instead if you want the ledger itself to take bank feeds, categorize, and rec, without installing Windows matching software.
Double
Pick Double instead if a firm should close many QuickBooks Online or Xero clients and write back to the file you already have.
QuickBooks Online
Stay in QuickBooks Online if the native bank feed and rec in the ledger is enough. Bank Rec is a companion matcher, not a QBO replacement.
Xero
Pick Xero instead if you want ledger-native bank rec in the browser. Bank Rec does not name a Xero connector.
