Found
A US business checking account that categorizes spend, sets tax money aside, and e-files 1099-NECs from the same app.
Best for
US sole props and single-member LLCs who will bank here and want tax estimates, a Taxes pocket, invoices, and 1099-NEC e-file in the same app.
Not ideal if
Anyone whose CPA will only open QuickBooks, who needs accrual books, inventory, or multi-state sales tax, or who cannot tolerate a neobank freeze with email-only support.
Standout
Quarterly tax estimates that set money aside when you get paid, plus free 1099-NEC e-file, inside the checking account.
About Found
Found is the operating account and the light books. You open checking through Lead Bank (Member FDIC), swipe a Mastercard debit card, send invoices, and pay contractors. Card spend and incoming deposits land in the Activity feed already categorized. Found estimates quarterly taxes and moves a share of each deposit into a Taxes pocket. You review categories, attach receipts, and download a P&L, a balance sheet, or a Schedule C (or Form 1120 / 1120-S).
It does not sit next to QuickBooks Online the way Mercury or Novo do. Those banks feed a file you already close. Kick replaces the ledger and is not a bank. Wave is free invoicing and cash books without moving the account. Found's job is keep the cash, the categories, the tax estimate, and the 1099-NEC e-file in one login. In-app quarterly IRS payments are Plus or Pro, and only for Schedule C filers. Importing another bank or card through Plaid is Plus or Pro after a 60-day trial.
People who stick are US sole props and single-member LLCs who want tax money set aside when they get paid, without a monthly bookkeeping subscription. They stay for free contractor pay and 1099-NEC e-file. They leave when a CPA will only open QuickBooks, or when a freeze leaves them on email-only support.
What people who used it say
What they tend to like
Tax money set aside when you get paid
Owners cite the estimate plus the Taxes pocket as the reason they stop mixing personal and business cash, and stop guessing at quarterly payments.
Bank, invoices, and light books in one login
App Store reviews treat Found as a cheaper stand-in for a separate checking account plus QuickBooks, especially for a sole prop or single LLC.
Contractor pay and 1099s without a per-head fee
NerdWallet flags W-9 collection, ACH pay, and 1099-NEC generation on the free plan as the freelancer-friendly extra versus a branch account.
What they hesitate about
Freezes and holds, then email-only support
NerdWallet (13 Mar 2026) found recurring forum and BBB complaints about frozen accounts and slow refunds. A Found spokesperson said phone support is for accounts in good standing; frozen accounts get email only.
Cash, check, and card caps on new accounts
Official help: new accounts cap card spend at $5,000/day, ATM at $550/day, checks at $3,000/week, and cash at $2,000/week. Direct deposit, ACH, and wires in have no stated dollar cap, but deposits can sit for review.
Not a file a CPA already knows
Found's own vs-QuickBooks page (4 Mar 2026) tells you to stay in QuickBooks if your accountant requires it, or if you need accrual, inventory, or multi-state sales tax.

Review the Activity feed, attach leftover receipts, and download a P&L or balance sheet from Found. There is no locked period in a CPA-standard ledger. Spend outside Found needs a CSV, a manual line, or a Plus/Pro Plaid import. Nothing writes to QuickBooks Online or Xero.
Invite the accountant (view/edit activity, download reports and the Schedule C or 1120 / 1120-S). They cannot move money. TurboTax is a partner path, but you type Found numbers in by hand. Found does not e-file the income-tax return. NerdWallet (13 Mar 2026): in-app full return filing is gone on every plan.

Features
Checking and debit cards through Lead Bank
Open a US business checking account with routing and account numbers, no credit check, no monthly maintenance fee, and no minimum. Banking services are provided by Lead Bank, Member FDIC, up to $250,000 per ownership category. Issue physical and virtual Mastercard debit cards (up to 10 physical and 20 virtual) with spend limits. Cash deposits cost $2 and cap at $2,000 per week. Mobile check deposit caps at $3,000 per week.
Tax estimates and a Taxes pocket
Found estimates federal and state tax as you earn and spend, then sets a share of each deposit into a Taxes pocket. You can keep the smart percentage or set your own. Schedule C filers on Plus or Pro can send quarterly federal payments from the app. Found generates a Schedule C or Form 1120 / 1120-S from categorized activity. It does not e-file your income-tax return.
Categorize spend as the card swipes
Purchases on a Found card land in the Activity feed with a suggested category. You correct the miss, split the line, attach a receipt (photo, file, or email), and keep a rule. P&L, income, expense, balance sheet, and chart of accounts reports are on every plan. Unlimited auto-categorize rules, custom categories, and Plaid imports (up to 10 accounts) start on Plus after a 60-day Connected Accounts trial. Free users can still add lines by CSV or by hand.
Unlimited invoices from the same login
Create, schedule, and send recurring invoices at $0 on every plan. Clients can pay by card, debit, Cash App Pay, or direct deposit. Card and Cash App Pay run through Stripe (2.9% + $0.30 for cards; 3.1% + $0.30 for Cash App Pay). ACH debit is $1.50 per link plus 0.8% per transfer. Tap to Pay in person is 2.7% + $0.05, plus $0.10 per tap.
Pay contractors and e-file 1099-NECs
Pay 1099 contractors by ACH, text, or email with no per-contractor fee. Collect W-9s and send reminders. Generate and e-file 1099-NECs on the free plan. Payments to another Found account can be instant. Found is not a W-2 payroll product; help points owners to Gusto for employees.
Pockets and up to five businesses
Split cash across up to 20 Pockets, each with its own account number, and auto-allocate a share of deposits (taxes, owner pay, a project). One login can hold up to five registered businesses, each with its own checking, books, and tax tools. Invite an accountant to view and edit the activity feed and download reports; they cannot move money.
Pricing
A solo shop that banks and spends on Found can stay on Free at $0 software. Plus is $35/month or $315/year if you import another card or want in-app quarterly tax payments. Pro is $80/month or $720/year. A 5-person shop still pays those software prices; seats are not the meter. Hidden costs sit on the fee schedule (13 Jul 2026): Stripe invoice cards at 2.9% + $0.30, Cash App Pay at 3.1% + $0.30, ACH debit at $1.50 + 0.8%, Tap to Pay at 2.7% + $0.05 plus $0.10 per tap, cash deposits $2, outgoing wires $15 ($10 on Pro), outgoing checks $1 (free on Pro), instant payments the greater of 1.75% or $0.50 (cap $50), express transfers 1% (cap $25), and a $10 dormancy fee after 12 months. Plus APY is 1.50% only up to $20,000; at that balance the yearly interest is less than the $315 annual fee. ATM owners may add their own fee. Found does not charge overdraft; the swipe is declined.

Audience
Pick something else instead of Found
Mercury
Pick Mercury instead if you want free USD wires, a bill-pay inbox, and a QuickBooks Online or Xero feed, not tax estimates inside the bank app.
Novo
Pick Novo instead if you want $0 checking that can feed Xero, QuickBooks, or Wave, and you do not need Found's Taxes pocket or 1099-NEC e-file.
Kick
Pick Kick instead if you want a replacement ledger and a year-end tax package, and you will keep banking somewhere else.
QuickBooks Online
Stay in QuickBooks Online if your CPA will only open that file, or if you need accrual books, inventory, or multi-state sales tax. Found's own comparison says the same.
