Our take
- Best for
- UK accounting firms that collect personal tax, VAT, audit, and payroll information from clients and want the chase out of the inbox.
- Not ideal if
- A US shop or firm that needs a ledger, payroll calculations, or 1099s, or anyone who assumed the branded client portal was on the entry plan.
- Standout
- Scheduled reminders on a client request list, so staff can see which backup has not come back.
About Glasscubes
Glasscubes is a client-request workspace for accounting firms, built and priced in the UK. Staff send a structured ask for personal tax, VAT, payroll, or audit backup. The client answers through a link, files land in one place, and reminders go out on a schedule. Glasscubes says its AI flags missing items and sorts replies. The firm's ledger stays wherever it already lives.
That is a different job from QuickBooks Online, Xero, Kick, or Digits, which keep the books. FloQast runs a close checklist on a ledger you already have. Bench is a bookkeeping service. Glasscubes does not post journals, send invoices, calculate payroll, or file US 1099s. Making Tax Digital assist is on every plan, which points the product at UK compliance work rather than a US chart of accounts.
Firms stick when client backup is stuck in email. The request, the reply, and the reminder sit in one workspace, and staff can see who has not answered. Forms, task lists, file approval, and e-sign start on Professional. The named client portal, document storage, white-label branding, custom URL, and single sign-on are checked only on Advantage. Essential still collects information and runs reminders.
Pricing
You pay a monthly account fee plus a staff-user fee, in pounds, before UK VAT. Essential is £96 plus £14.40 per user, so five staff is £168 a month before VAT, and the optional bulk-distribution add-on was not priced. Professional at five users is £144 plus £88. The page meta description still says from £10 per user and a free trial; the visible plans do not match that. Over 50 users, ask about volume pricing.

Month-end still happens in the firm's ledger. Glasscubes shows whether the client sent the backup, not whether the accounts tie.
You can export what the client uploaded. You cannot hand a CPA a trial balance from Glasscubes, because it is not the books.
Features
- Send a request and track who replied
- Staff set up a client request for the records they need. Automated reminders, scheduled and recurring requests, real-time request reporting, and information export are checked on Essential, Professional, and Advantage. The client works from a link. Glasscubes describes the AI as flagging missing data and organizing replies.
- Tax, VAT, audit, and payroll requests
- The homepage splits work into personal tax, audit and accounts (PBC requests and evidence), payroll data gathering and approvals, and a client portal. MTD Assist is checked on every plan. This is request tracking for those jobs. Glasscubes does not calculate pay or file a return.
- Forms, e-sign, and tasks from Professional
- The pricing table leaves Digital file approval, online forms and workflow, secure file sharing, task management, two-factor authentication, and eSignatures blank on Essential. Those rows are checked on Professional and Advantage. A firm that needs signatures in the request should not plan on Essential.
- Portal and white label on Advantage
- Client portal, document storage and exchange, white labelling, custom URL, single sign-on, and IP location lockdown are checked only on Advantage. Branding, encryption, ISO 27001, and GDPR are checked on every plan. The homepage also describes a simple upload link with no password, which is separate from the Advantage portal row.
- Open API, with no named ledger connectors
- Open API is checked on Essential, Professional, and Advantage. The pricing page and homepage do not name QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, or Xero as connectors. Treat the API as available, and treat any accounting sync as unconfirmed until Glasscubes shows the connector.

Pick something else instead of Glasscubes
QuickBooks Online
Pick QuickBooks Online instead if you need a US company file with bank feeds, invoices, and bills. Glasscubes will not keep those books.
Xero
Pick Xero instead if the firm needs the client ledger. Glasscubes only collects the paperwork around the work.
FloQast
Pick FloQast instead if the job is a month-end close checklist on the ledger you already use, not a UK client-request portal.
