Our take

Best for
A finance team that already pays vendors from AP and wants line-item history, accruals, and prepaids in the same place as the bill.
Not ideal if
A team whose main control problem is employee cards, or anyone who needs NetSuite on a published price.
Standout
It stores the lines on the vendor bill and uses them for variance, accruals, and prepaid schedules, not only for the amount due.

About Glean.ai

Glean.ai is accounts payable with a record of what each vendor bill was for. You forward invoices to an address Glean gives you. The bill shows up in the app within minutes, and line items (items, quantities, unit prices) are typically added within 24 hours. You approve, then pay by ACH, check, or an international payment. Bills, payments, and prepaid amortization schedules sync to the general ledger. It books accruals and reversals, flags duplicate bills, and lets you open a bill change and see the driver.

Bill.com and Tipalti are built to approve and pay suppliers, Tipalti especially when payees are global and high volume. Stampli is a shared AP inbox. Ramp and Brex put controls on cards they issue. Glean does not issue the card. It reads vendor invoices, and the company says the same workspace covers costs put on credit cards, so finance can ask why a vendor total moved. The only published plan syncs QuickBooks and Xero. NetSuite, Sage Intacct, and Microsoft Dynamics are on the custom plan. Vic.ai is closer if you only want coding automation and you already have a way to pay.

Finance teams keep it when the hard question is why this vendor went up, and whether the bill should be accrued or spread as a prepaid. Unlimited users means a department approver does not add a seat. You still close in your ledger. Glean is the vendor-spend file beside it.

Pricing

Basic is $295 per month, billed annually, for up to 35 invoices and unlimited users. ACH and checks are marked free. A USD international payment is $10 plus 0.20%. FX international payments are marked free. Each extra entity is $50. Each historical invoice is $1.50. Two straight months over the cap moves you to Pro, which is custom, and there is no separate overage line. The homepage still says plans start at $95 a month. That number is not on the plans page. Use $295.

Bills, payments, accrual entries, and prepaid schedules sync into the ledger, so the close still happens there, with less rekeying of those items.

A CPA can take the QuickBooks, Xero, or other connected ledger, with bill and payment activity posted. 1099 creation was not documented. Desktop QuickBooks is named on the integrations page.

Features

Forward the invoice, skip the data entry
Glean creates an email address for vendor bills. Most invoices appear in the app within minutes of receipt. Line-item detail is typically added within 24 hours. The plans page says you do not key the header or the lines.
See why the vendor bill changed
Line items are kept so you can look at quantities and unit prices over time, not only the amount due. The product page also lists duplicate-bill detection, renewal notices, variance explanations, and vendor pricing benchmarks.
Book accruals and prepaid schedules
Automated accrual bookings and reversals, and prepaid amortization schedules, are listed on every plan description on the pricing page. Those schedules sync to the general ledger with the bills and the payments.
Approve, then pay from the same bill
Custom approval workflows are included. ACH and check are marked free on both plans. A USD international payment is listed at $10 plus 0.20% per transaction. FX international payments are marked free. US payment services are provided by Visa Global Services Inc., with Currencycloud named for payment and e-money services.
Sync the ledger you already close in
Basic shows QuickBooks and Xero. The integrations page says QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. Pro adds Oracle NetSuite, Sage Intacct, and Microsoft Dynamics, and that plan has no published price. An extra entity is $50. A historical invoice import is $1.50 each.
