BILL Spend & Expense
Free corporate cards where every dollar draws from a budget you set first.
Best for
Small and mid-size teams that want hard budgets on company cards without a per-seat software fee.
Not ideal if
Teams that must keep their existing corporate cards, or non-US entities without a US business bank account and EIN.
Standout
Budgets are enforced at authorization. A card tied to a $500 budget declines at $501 instead of appearing as overspend next month.
About BILL Spend & Expense
BILL Spend & Expense (formerly Divvy) is BILL's free spend and expense product for small and mid-size businesses. It is not a ledger, and it is not the same product as BILL Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable. You apply for a BILL Divvy Card credit line, issue physical or virtual cards to people or projects, and fund each card from a budget you define. When a swipe would blow past that budget, the charge is declined instead of showing up as a surprise next month. Card spend posts in real time. Receipts can be snapped in the mobile app (or texted to a BILL number). AI matches receipts and codes transactions. Out-of-pocket spend can sit beside card spend as reimbursements paid by ACH. Approved, coded spend syncs to QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, Oracle NetSuite, or Sage Intacct. You still close the books in those systems.
It does not replace QuickBooks Online or Xero. Ramp is the closest free card-first peer with stronger accounting automation in BookkeepDIY's own ranking. Expensify is reimbursement-first. Zoho Expense manages reports and policy without issuing a new card program. BILL Accounts Payable is a sibling paid product for vendor invoices, not this free Spend layer.
People who stick with it usually want hard budgets on company cards without paying a per-seat software fee. BILL earns on card interchange, not on a Spend & Expense subscription. Teams that need to keep their existing cards, or whose real problem is vendor invoices, should look elsewhere.

Features
Budgets that stop overspend
Set budgets by person, team, or project. Card limits draw from those budgets. Transactions over the remaining amount are declined at authorization, not flagged after the fact.
BILL Divvy physical and virtual cards
Issue physical cards and as many virtual cards as you need for people, vendors, or one-off purchases. Cards work with Apple Pay and Google Pay. No annual card fee on the public product pages.
Real-time expense tracking and AI coding
Charges appear as they post. AI auto-categorizes transactions, matches receipts, and fills accounting fields so month-end is review, not data entry.
Receipt capture and reimbursements
Snap a receipt in the app or text it in. Track out-of-pocket expenses next to card spend and reimburse by ACH, including spend recorded in local currency across 20+ currencies in the app.
Accounting sync
Map categories and send coded spend into QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, Oracle NetSuite, or Sage Intacct. CSV export or import is the path when there is no native sync.
Business credit and rewards
Apply for a charge-card credit line (public range $1,000 to $5M, subject to approval). Rewards points scale with how often you pay the balance. Redeem for cash back, statement credit, or gift cards.
Pricing
Spend & Expense software is $0 per user per month. Card annual fee is $0 on public pages. Cardholder agreement fees (late, FX, cross-border) can still apply. Do not confuse with paid BILL AP/AR seats.
