About FileCenter Receipts
FileCenter Receipts is a Windows receipt cabinet, not the ledger. You scan paper on a TWAIN or ScanSnap scanner, import a PDF or photo, or drop phone snaps from Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox into an Inbox. Analyze Receipt can fill vendor, date, amount, and payment method. You split line items, mark reimbursements, and run a PDF or Excel report. On a new box you connect QuickBooks Online Plus (or higher) or QuickBooks Desktop Professional (or higher), sync payees and expense accounts, and post the receipt as an Expense. The image can attach on QuickBooks Online, not Desktop. Posted lines lock. You still close in those books.
It does not replace QuickBooks Online or Xero. Kick is the opposite: Kick is the ledger. Neat is the cloud cabinet with a yearly QuickBooks Online send. Shoeboxed mails paper to humans. Dext is the bookkeeper-grade capture tool that publishes into QuickBooks Online or Xero. Expensify is snap-and-reimburse for a team. Close is still in QuickBooks or Xero. You book and review receipts in FileCenter, post the ones you want (new box only, then lock), and refresh lists after chart or vendor changes. Antivirus can corrupt a local receipt-box database if you do not exclude the My Receipts folder.
Post expenses into the accountant's QuickBooks Online or Desktop file, or send a PDF report with images, Excel, or CSV. FileCenter does not e-file the return or 1099s. Desktop posts do not attach the image, so keep FileCenter as the picture archive.

Scan, import, or Inbox from a watched folder
Scan paper with a TWAIN scanner or ScanSnap, or add a PDF, JPEG, TIFF, Word, or Excel file. Phone snaps land when you save them to a Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox folder that the Inbox watches. There is no FileCenter iOS or Android app. Data stays in a local My Receipts folder, not a FileCenter cloud.
Analyze Receipt, then you still review
On the current Pro SKU, Analyze Receipt suggests payee, date, amount, payment account, and payment method. It can also pull sales tax if you turn those fields on. It cannot read handwriting, faded ink, or a bad photo. You accept or type over the suggestions before you book the slip.
Split line items, reimbursements, and tax categories
Split one store run across categories, mark a line reimbursable, and keep a separate tax category for deduction reports. Sales tax has up to four fields (hidden until you enable them). Keep personal, business, and side-project piles in separate receipt boxes.
PDF or Excel expense reports with images
Filter by date, payee, or category, then save a report as PDF or Excel, or export CSV. The PDF can append a copy of each receipt image. That is the usual CPA handoff when you are not posting into QuickBooks.
Post to QuickBooks Online or Desktop (new boxes only)
Connect a new box to QuickBooks Online Plus or higher, or QuickBooks Desktop Professional or higher. Lists sync (payees, expense accounts, payment methods, bank and card accounts). Each booked receipt can post as an Expense. QuickBooks Online can attach the image. Desktop cannot. After post, the line locks. You can only attach an accounting program when you create the box.
FileCenter DMS tab and shared network boxes
If you also buy FileCenter DMS, Receipts is another tab in the same Windows app and you can send a file from a cabinet into a box. Offices can put boxes on a mapped network share so more than one person books into the same pile. That is a separate DMS license, not included in the $97 Receipts purchase.
Pricing
A solo shop pays $97 once, then $50 a year if they want updates and support after the included year. A 5-person shop that licenses every seat is $485 up front, then $250 a year in maintenance (multi-user discounts are quote-only). Skipping maintenance means you keep the version you bought, but you cannot install the current Setup 12 build. PaperPort and old Neat Desk or Neat Receipts users may get a discount. Why-page copy that says there are no annual fees is marketing; maintenance is on the public table.
