Our take

Best for
Construction, trades, and other job-cost businesses, or a firm running AP for those QuickBooks clients, that need every bill line on the right job.
Not ideal if
A company whose AP is mostly header-level SaaS bills, or that wants corporate cards to be the system of record.
Standout
It codes each captured line to a job, phase, or cost code and writes that detail into QuickBooks, including Desktop through the Web Connector.

About MakersHub

MakersHub is accounts payable for businesses that code bills to jobs. A bill arrives by email, PDF, scan, or photo. The product reads each line, then applies the GL account, job, phase, cost code, class, or customer from rules you set. Approved bills sync both ways with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop through the Web Connector, or Xero, including line detail. You can pay the vendor by ACH, check, eCheck, or an expedited transfer, and the payment stays on the bill's history.

Bill.com and Melio are built to get a vendor paid, and Bill.com also covers customer invoices. They are a weak fit when every line has to hit a job before it posts. Stampli and Vic.ai are invoice inboxes with coding and approval. Ramp and Brex start from a card they issue. MakersHub starts from the supplier bill and the job. Purchase-order matching is not on the entry plan. Multi-entity management and the API are on the custom plan. NetSuite, Sage Intacct, and Intuit Enterprise Suite are documented integrations, with extra ERPs called out as an add-on to the base QuickBooks and Xero sync.

Teams keep it when the same suppliers bill the same jobs and the rules hold. A construction or trades shop, a manufacturer, or a bookkeeper running AP for several QuickBooks clients reviews exceptions instead of retyping lines. The ledger stays in QuickBooks or Xero. MakersHub is the bill desk in front of it.

Pricing

Bills Starter is $99 a month: 50 bills, 5 users, 20 payment credits, and a 21-day trial. AP Scaling is $249 a month: 150 bills, 15 users, 60 credits, PO matching, and a 21-day trial. Business Master is custom and adds the API and multi-entity. The pricing page does not say what a payment costs after the included credits, or the fee for an expedited transfer. A 5-person shop under 50 bills a month can stay on Starter if 20 payments cover the month.

Coded bills and the payments you made in MakersHub sync into QuickBooks or Xero, so the close is still the reconciliation and reports in that ledger.

A CPA gets the QuickBooks or Xero file with bill lines, job coding, and payment history already posted, plus the audit trail inside MakersHub. 1099 filing was not documented.

Features

Capture every line on the bill
Email, upload, or photograph a PDF or scan. MakersHub extracts header fields and each line (description, quantity, and price), then you review before anything posts. The QuickBooks integration page says the sync carries 35+ fields per bill, including line detail and custom fields.
Code the line to the job
Rules you configure once apply the GL account, job, phase, cost code, class, or customer as the bill is read. That is the workflow for construction, trades, and other job-cost books. Approvers can act in the product, and the QuickBooks page also says approvals can run from email or mobile.
Match the bill to the PO
On AP Scaling and Business Master, each bill line can be matched to the purchase order and the receipt. Quantity or price differences are flagged before you pay. The Starter plan does not include the PO matching module.
Sync QuickBooks or Xero, then pay
Every published plan includes a two-way QuickBooks Online and Xero connection for bills, vendors, and payments. Desktop connects through the QuickBooks Web Connector, not an IIF file. Included payment methods are ACH, check, eCheck, and expedited transfer. Starter includes 20 payment credits; AP Scaling includes 60.
Route approval by the org, not a single inbox
Approvals can follow job, project, entity, location, vendor, or amount. Comments stay on the bill. Multi-entity management, which assigns a bill to the right entity from vendor, bill-to, ship-to, or PO number, is listed on Business Master, not on the two published monthly plans.
