Our take
- Best for
- A mid-market or larger finance team that needs one system for the annual plan, multi-entity consolidation, and the board pack on top of an ERP.
- Not ideal if
- A single QuickBooks Online or Xero file where the owner only needs a management report, or anyone who needs a sticker price before a demo.
- Standout
- Planning, consolidation, and close share one model, and the integrations FAQ says source volume is not capped and is not an extra charge.
About Planful
Planful is financial performance management software for a finance team that has outgrown a workbook as the company plan. You connect source systems, and Planful runs planning, budgeting, forecasting, consolidation, close, and reporting on that data. The accounting page says close and consolidation use built-in logic for multiple charts of accounts, currencies, ownership, and intercompany eliminations. Spotlight keeps Excel, PowerPoint, and Word files tied to Planful so a board pack can refresh. You still keep the general ledger in the ERP or in QuickBooks. Planful's integrations FAQ says it pulls trial balances, journals, the chart of accounts, and cost centers. It does not become the books.
Vena and Datarails are the Excel-native FP&A suites in this directory, both quote-only, with the model living in the spreadsheet. Jirav is a smaller three-statement plan on QuickBooks Online or Xero with a published price. Fathom and Spotlight Reporting are management-report packs on those ledgers. FloQast and Numeric are close checklists on the ERP. Planful puts the plan, the consolidation, and the close in one platform, and it sells that to companies the site counts in the 1,500+ range, including names such as Bose and Etsy on the company page.
Finance teams stay when the same model has to serve a budget, a multi-entity consolidation, and a board pack, and they have someone who will own the dimensions. The finance FAQ says multi-entity and multi-currency structures are supported, and formal consolidation is part of the product. They stay when the ERP feed is reliable. A Planful plan on a late or unmapped trial balance is still a late plan.
Pricing
On 12 Oct 2026 there was no public pricing page (planful.com/pricing returned not found). The company information page says the subscription depends on company size, user count, and modules, and it does not list a dollar amount. The integrations FAQ says data volume and extra sources are not an added charge. A 5-person shop cannot calculate a bill from the site. Expect a demo and a quote.
Subscription

You still close the official books in the ERP. Planful can run consolidation, eliminations, currency translation, and close workflows on the data it pulls. A late ERP feed means a late Planful close.
You can refresh an Excel, PowerPoint, or Word pack through Spotlight and send that to the accountant. Planful does not file the return. 1099 support was not documented. The year-end ledger remains the ERP.
Features
- Plan, budget, and forecast in one model
- The finance page says budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis sit in one system, with Excel-like behavior for contributors who are not FP&A specialists. The company page says the subscription is tailored to company size, user count, and modules. No module price list is published.
- Consolidate and close from the ERP feed
- The accounting page says Planful handles multiple charts of accounts, currencies, ownership structures, and intercompany eliminations. The platform page says intercompany entries, currency conversion, and consolidation totals are checked before they reach a report. You still keep the official ledger in the ERP.
- Refresh the board pack from Spotlight
- The integrations page says Planful Spotlight keeps Microsoft 365, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word files connected to Planful, and that one click refreshes the board pack or weekly update. The platform page also lists pushes to PowerPoint, Excel, Workiva, and BI tools.
- Connect ERPs without a volume cap
- The integrations FAQ names pre-built connectors for SAP S/4HANA and ECC, NetSuite, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, QuickBooks, Acumatica, and Sage Intacct, pulling trial balances, journals, chart of accounts, and cost centers. It says there is no cap on data volume or number of sources and no extra charge for volume. QuickBooks is not labeled Online or Desktop.
- Set the refresh schedule yourself
- The integrations FAQ says you set the cadence: general-ledger data might refresh a few times a day, while HRIS or payroll data might sync weekly or monthly. Payroll here is a data feed into the plan, not paycheck processing. Adding a source can be a pre-built connector, an API, or a low-code setup, or a guided project with Planful.

Pick something else instead of Planful
Jirav
Pick Jirav instead if you are on QuickBooks Online or Xero and want a three-statement plan with a published price, not an enterprise performance suite.
Vena
Pick Vena instead if the planning surface has to stay in Microsoft Excel and you are comparing another quote-only FP&A suite.
FloQast
Pick FloQast instead if the job is the close checklist and reconciliations on the ERP, and you do not need Planful's planning model.
