Our take
- Best for
- Audit firms that need the same GL, trial balance, AR, and AP file from clients on different accounting systems.
- Not ideal if
- An owner closing their own QuickBooks file, or a team whose real gap is PDF evidence inside Excel rather than getting the ledger out.
- Standout
- One client link returns a standardized, refreshable ledger extract, including systems with no connector via upload.
About Validis
Validis is the data pull for an audit, not the books. The firm sends the client a link. The client connects a cloud or on-prem accounting system, or uploads reports when there is no connector. Validis returns a standardized general ledger, trial balance, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and transaction detail, with a read-only trail back to the source. You can refresh on demand or on a schedule instead of asking for a new export. Testing starts from that file. The client still closes in their own ledger.
DataSnipper is what you use after the numbers are already in Excel and you need the PDF tied to the cell. FloQast is the company's close checklist, not the auditor's intake. Avalara and TaxJar file sales tax. Validis does not run the sample test and does not file a return. The audit FAQ names QuickBooks, Xero, Sage 50, Sage 100, Sage 200, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, GP, NAV, and Business Central, SAP Business One, Workday, and Oracle. It says QuickBooks, not Online versus Desktop. Firms can also query the same file through an API or MCP server for their own AI tools. Validis says that data is not used to train AI.
Firms keep it when every engagement starts with a different export and a cleanup week. One model across clients means the junior does less reformatting, and the reviewer can rerun the same snapshot. It is a firm subscription. The business owner does not open it to code the bank feed.
Pricing
No price on the product or about pages. You contact sales. An AICPA member offer page opened on 2026-10-12 lists Starter 50 at $25,000 (50 uploading clients, up to 20 users), Advanced 100 at $45,000 (100 clients, up to 50 users, SSO and API keys), and Enterprise above $100,000 (unlimited clients and users). That is a member offer, not a public checkout. A shop doing its own books is not the buyer.
Custom
Audit firms and lenders. No public price on the product pages. You contact Validis. An AICPA member offer page lists package amounts; those are not a public checkout.

Validis does not close the books. It gives the auditor a snapshot of the GL, trial balance, AR, and AP. The client still reconciles and locks the period in their ledger.
This is the handoff. The client connects or uploads, and the firm gets a standardized file with a trail back to the source system. It does not replace the workpapers or the opinion.
Features
- Connect the client system or upload a file
- Send one link. The client connects a cloud or on-prem package, or uploads reports when that system has no connector. The audit page says this covers the engagement either way, and that a later period can refresh without a fresh export email.
- Standardize the GL, trial balance, AR, and AP
- One connection returns general ledger, trial balance, receivables, payables, subledgers, and transaction detail in one audit data model. Validis says the file is versioned so you can rerun the engagement on the same snapshot.
- Drill from the balance to the entry
- The audit page says Validis standardizes transactions across the general ledger, trial balance, and subledgers, with a trail from the ledger entry to the working paper. You still decide what to test.
- Query the file from the firm's own tools
- The same standardized data can be read in the Validis portal or by the firm's AI tools through an API or MCP server. Access stays permissioned and read-only at extraction. Validis says it supplies the data and does not build those agents.
- Keep the connection read-only
- Pages opened say data is encrypted in transit and at rest, connections are read-only, and client data is not used to train AI. Validis states SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001. Regional hosting is offered; the exact regions were not listed.

DataSnipper
Pick DataSnipper instead if the gap is tying PDFs to Excel after you already have the numbers, not extracting the client ledger.
FloQast
Pick FloQast instead if you are the company's close team and need a checklist on the ERP, not an auditor intake tool.
Numeric
Pick Numeric instead if the job is the month-end close on QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct.
