About Shoeboxed
Shoeboxed is a receipt capture service, not a ledger. You mail paper in a prepaid Magic Envelope (US postage only), photograph receipts in the iOS or Android app, forward email, or drag files into the web app. Their team scans the paper. A person checks the OCR extract (vendor, total, date, tax, payment type). You review, categorize, and on Pro and up export into QuickBooks Online (United States only) or Xero. You still close in those systems.
It does not replace QuickBooks Online or Xero. Dext is the bookkeeper-grade capture peer: better self-serve OCR, supplier auto-fetch, and a cleaner publish. Expensify is snap-and-reimburse with a free SmartScan tier. Receipt Bot is credit-priced capture you push into QuickBooks Online or Xero. ReceiptsAI is privacy-first and CSV-only. Send a PDF/CSV report with images, add the accountant as a user (seat caps apply), or export to QBO (US; image is a notes link) or Xero draft bills. There is no year-end tax package.
