SimplyWise Receipts is a receipt cabinet, not the ledger. You photograph paper in the iOS or Android app, upload JPG, PDF, or PNG on the web, connect Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, or AOL, or forward to your @docs.simplywise.com address. Amazon, Walmart, and PayPal imports land in To Be Saved. OCR pulls merchant, date, tax, tip, and total. You file into folders, optionally match bank and card lines through Plaid, and on the Business tier you export a CSV, XLSX, or PDF report. You still close in QuickBooks Online or Xero if that is the file.
It does not replace QuickBooks Online or Xero. A features FAQ and a buying guide mention a QuickBooks sync, but the living receipt FAQ has no connector steps, so treat spreadsheet export as the documented path. Neat is a similar cabinet with a documented Yearly QuickBooks Online send. Shoeboxed mails paper for humans to scan. Dext is the bookkeeper-grade publish into QuickBooks Online or Xero. Expensify is snap-and-reimburse for a team. Everlance and MileIQ are mileage-first. ReceiptsAI is privacy-first and CSV-only. They stay for email and Amazon import so e-receipts do not sit in Gmail, and for a Business-tier spreadsheet they can drop into Excel. They accept that reports are paid, that the App Store still lists leftover weekly SKUs, and that Mileage still shows its own store prices even while Cost Estimator marketing says one subscription unlocks the suite.

Close is still in QuickBooks Online, Xero, or a spreadsheet. In SimplyWise you file To Be Saved, match Plaid lines if you connected a card, and (Business) run a folder report. Nothing documented writes a journal entry back to the ledger.
Invite the accountant into shared folders, or on Business export CSV/XLSX/PDF or a read-only report link. Freemium and Personal hand over a zip of images. SimplyWise does not e-file the return or 1099s.

Photograph paper in the iOS or Android app (including multi-page slips), import JPG/PDF/PNG from the camera roll or the web uploader, or tap Skip and type merchant, date, and amount when there is no slip. Search by date, merchant, total, or line item.
Email, Amazon, Walmart, and PayPal import
Connect Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, or AOL, or forward to your @docs.simplywise.com address. Amazon, Walmart, and PayPal connections pull purchases into To Be Saved. Mobile-only Rules can auto-file those imports by merchant or amount. Amazon email summaries often land as one bundled order unless you connect Amazon or forward the detailed invoice.
Folders, splits, and a CPA share
File receipts into folders and Spaces, split line items across folders, mark restaurant tips, set recurring expenses, and add custom fields (the FAQ uses this for Canadian tax lines). Share selected folders with an accountant. You can log income by changing the document type. Spreadsheet history cannot be uploaded in.
Match receipts to bank and card lines (Plaid)
Reconciliation connects a bank or card through Plaid and matches scanned documents to those transactions. This is a receipt-to-charge check, not a replacement ledger and not a QuickBooks bank feed. Help does not publish a look-back window.
Business-tier reports, then you close elsewhere
Business users create a folder-and-date report on the web or in the app and export CSV, XLSX, or PDF, or share a read-only link. Freemium and Personal (Base) can download a zip of receipt images only. A May 2026 Play Store review matches that gate: no categorization report until the premium plan. SimplyWise does not e-file the return.
Suite siblings may bill separately
Cost Estimator, Mileage Tracker, and AI Receptionist are other SimplyWise apps. The receipt FAQ (opened 12 Sep 2026) now says one active subscription unlocks the suite. The same day's billing FAQ still says each app has its own subscription. Cost Estimator pricing, updated the same day, is $29.99/mo or $239.99/yr and claims receipts are included. Mileage still lists its own App Store IAPs. Confirm in the store before you assume receipts are bundled.
Pricing
A shop over 250 receipts a year leaves Free. Unlimited storage without a spreadsheet is the $29.99/year Base SKU on the US App Store. The books-useful plan is Pro / Business at $89.99/year or $9.99/month, because that is the tier that exports CSV/XLSX/PDF. A 5-person shop with ~500 receipts still fits one account if they share folders; extra-seat pricing is unpublished. Weekly IAPs ($0.99 Base, $2.99 Pro) can cost more than annual if you forget to cancel. Cost Estimator is a different product at $29.99/month or $239.99/year and claims to unlock the suite; the billing FAQ and Mileage's own store prices still look like separate subscriptions.
